You might think from the recent spate of atheist best-sellers that belief in God has become intellectually indefensible for thinking people today. But a look at these books by Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, and Christopher Hitchens, among others, quickly reveals that the so-called New Atheism lacks intellectual muscle. It is blissfully ignorant of the revolution that has taken place in Anglo-American philosophy. It reflects the scientism of a bygone generation rather than the contemporary intellectual scene.
This is one of the few issues I disagree with the majority of conservatives and because of that, I prefer to keep silent, but as a Christian, I believe every person can be saved by Christ at the last minute and I think if a man kills other because of a crime it will condemn the punished with two deaths! One material and the other is spiritual: his chances to be saved will be gone (of course, this had nothing to do with laws). It is indeed subjective of mine, but Pope John Paul II said death penalty is no more necessary, besides I know death penalty was always approved in Christian tradition.
Many people also thinks life sentence is a alternative, but I don’t think so, how you can punish a life sentenced prisoner if he commits a crime inside the prison? He will pass all his life thinking in escape too! And like Brazil, he can coordinate his gang inside the prison.
When is President Obama going to deal with the real pollution? How much longer can he essentially ignore the oil spewing into the Gulf of Mexico? How many times can he repeat the scientific falsehood about carbon pollution causing global warming? The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says CO2 is the cause not carbon. An increase in atmosphere carbon would result in cooling. Carbon from incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons is called soot and that blocks sunlight. CO2 is not a pollutant but a natural gas essential to life. In a speech to Congress Obama linked the falsehood with his goal. He asked them “to send me legislation that places a market-based cap on carbon pollution and drives the production of more renewable energy in America.”
Despite enormous pressure from the democratic-media complex, Andrew Breitbart is not folding like a lawn chair. The media wants desperately for Breitbart to admit wrongdoing in the Sherrod racial incident. Instead, he is lashing back at the media for misrepresenting his story, her words and the audience’s reaction to her incredibly offensive and racist speech.
“The true Lula is the Lula of Fidel Castro, Chávez, FARC, Iran, Hamas, North Korea. The ideological backwardness is on power. Europe is too naive about Lula. I recognize he fools everyone. One day he will be revealed. Here, in Europe and in the world.”—João Ricardo Moderno, President of Brasilian Academy of Philosophy.
The man who seized the White House by fomenting a mood of irrational expectation is now facing the bitter price exacted by reality. The reality is that there can be no “good” American president. It’s an impossible hand to play. Obama is close to being finished.
Teen sexual activity is costly, not just for teens, but also for society. Teens who engage in sexual activity risk a host of negative outcomes including STD infection, emotional and psychological harm, and out-of-wedlock childbearing. Genuine abstinence education is therefore crucial to the physical and psycho-emotional well-being of the nation’s youth. In addition to teaching the benefits of abstaining from sexual activity until marriage, abstinence programs focus on developing character traits that prepare youths for future-oriented goals. When considering effective prevention program aimed at changing teen sexual behavior, lawmakers should consider all of the available empirical evidence and restore funding for abstinence education.
